Wax Tailor – In The Mood For Life (Making of) | Video

His first album “Tales of the Forgotten Melodies” drew comparisons to the likes of RJD2, Portishead and DJ Shadow, while his second “Hope & Sorrow” (80 000 sold worldwide) landed him a nomination at the prestigious Victoires de la Musiques, as well as the US Indie Awards. Wax Tailor is coming off a year which saw him tour relentlessly (over 200 concerts) and score the title track for the movie “Paris” by Cedric Klapisch as well as a few remixes (Nina Simone, ASA). He is now a well-established and respected producer. Written in both Paris and New York City, his third album “In the Mood for Life” is an organic landscape with orchestral accents. Taking its cues from Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop or 60’s Pop Music, this is one eagerly awaited 52 minute journey.

Yousef – Tribute (mp3 EP) – Plastic City. Play

As he approaches his third decade in the business, nearly fifteen years of acid house dedication that has seen him throw his life into dance music, there’s still room for growth artistically and professionally. Completely comfortable in his own skin, yet itching for progress and further creative empowerment, Yousef has strode headlong into the year with increasing maturity and prowess. Perhaps the talking point of the year so far refers to the imminent arrival of his artist album, his first proper. Whilst 2005’s ‘Friends’ EP saw a collection of collaborations extend the usual club format of single, this is Yousef tackling that tricky beast completely on his own, finally laying down on wax a watermark of his effervescent personality. It showcases the different dynamics to his sound as a performer alongside material more reflective of the man away from the booth, with the club tracks already seeing some heavy support from the usual rag tag ensemble of dance music greats; Sasha, Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox, Steve Lawler, Radio Slave and Nick Curly among them. Following on from previous work for CR2, JBO, Skint, Underwater and Berwick street. Whether criss-crossing the globe with his arsenal of varied sounds or impregnating his own individual aural histrionics on wax, Yousef is stamping his identity on dance music and leaving a lasting impression. There’s few who come close in terms of dedication or in the variance of approach, Yos hits each and every base with alarming regularity. And the best part yet? The journey has only just begun…

There could be no summer on Ibiza without a new summer soundtrack from Mole Listening Pearls. The artists from the label translated again their visions of relaxing, holidays, beaches beyond the sea into perfect music. Mole Listening Pearls has always been crossing the borders without losing its distinctive identity. Mole is unbound to defined styles and outer limits being pigeonholed at all.

The established Mole artists like Naomi, Audio Lotion, nor elle, Alphawezen Ohm Square, and moodorama beyond new faces on the label like Dadamnphreaknoizphunk, Johannes Huppertz, Sneaky Fox and The Casino Royal create an acoustic mosaic which is constantly reassembled but always remains recognisable. A paradox: although there is no typical Mole sound, you can immediately feel and sense the sound of Mole. The resolution to this paradox is anchored in the label´s core ideas and the mission of the Mole artists. The mission of the artists can be found in their music with the music being their message.

The core ideas of Mole include the determined willingness to foster its artists and to provide them with time and space to develop their message.

Wax Tailor, aka JC Le Saout, made a remarkable impact worldwide with his albums “Tales of the Forgotten Melodies” and “Hope & Sorrow”. Often categorized as trip-hop or down tempo hip-hop, Wax Tailor breaks musical barriers using a sonic palette to demonstrate his life chronicles tainted in soul, jazz, and funk. With the new album “In The Mood For Life”, which will be released in september 2009, Wax Tailor confirms his musical identity. To celebrate in style this new release, the first single “Say Yes (feat. A.S.M.)” will be released on Mole Listening Pearls in august. The video for it was shot by Tenas, who had done the sensational video for the Wax Tailor track “Positively Inclined” last year. Nowadays some of the primary rocks like Der Dritte Raum, Hardfloor or Spicelab are joining artists of the younger generation like Billy Dalessandro, Boris Brejcha, Phil Kieran, Tigerskin or John Dahlbäck. And even big names like Joey Beltram (who mixed the latest Harthouse mix compilation named “Lost In New York”), Terence Fixmer or Joel Mull spend their creative energy to form the musical content of Harthouse Mannheim. The combination of sophisticated and impulsive artists leads to the eclectic sound profile the cataloque of the labels reflects since 2004.

This label compilation features the best and most interesting works of the last five years like remixes of Jesper Dahlbäck (ADJD’s “Space For Bass”), Hardfloor (Gui Boratto’s “Atol”) and original tracks from Der Dritte Raum, Zoo Brasil, Phil Kieran, Spicelab, Joey Beltram, Tigerskin, Billy Dalessandro, Braincell & Joel Mull. This compilation shows that Harthouse is still on the top in the techno label ranking.

Babak Shayan – My Life (Plastic City)

Since his first release with “Dualists” on Plastic City in 2001, Babak Shayan is on a continuous release course in the deep Tech-House sector. As a member of “Soda Inc” and because of his well respected label “Shayan-Music”, he becomes a firm size in the German Tech-House scene. Now, after countless releases on vinyl, more than 20 compilations and albums, Babak Shayan presents his debut soloalbum and his most personal work: “My life“. It’s difficult to do Babak’s music in a drawer. Between Tech-House tunes like “Snake in The Grass“ or “Flowers” the listener can find always some sounds with Iranian origin and roots. On tunes like “One In A million“ which was also part of the “Lima” compilation (Global Undergound by Nick Warren) but also on other tracks, oriental sounds (from sitar to ney) are to be perceived over and over again. An Interlude even shows a conversation on Iranian between Babak’s friends.”Azadi Nist” (translated in english: “no freedom“), fits topically too well to the political situation in Iran at the moment.

Babak dwell in Germany since his childhood although his whole family still lives in Iran. After studying maths he moved to Cologne and started as a self promoting musician. With “My Life” Babak Shayan shows his qualities as an artist of electronic dance scene, his obsession to music in all forms and colours as well as his feelings to his homeland.
