Mr Oizo – Lambs Anger (Ed Banger Records)
The eagerly awaited album from Mr Oizo aka Quentin Dupieux, featuring the likes of Uffie, Errorsmith & Carmen Castro. Mr Oizo has defined the deep looped up electro sound that Ed Banger is now famous for. A great album which exploits all of those over the top noises we love. The cover art denotes how detached he now is from that Levis ad, but he still uses bass sounds that would make any yellow muppet go crazy. One of the best full lengths Ed Banger have put out.

Alphawezen – Days (Mole)
Under their nom de guerre “Alphawezen”, Ernst Wawra and his singing comrades-in-arms have already demonstrated their expertise in the weird and wonderful world of electro-apparatus. Their three sound carriers, “L’Après-Midi d’un Microphone”, “En Passant” and “Comme Vous Voulez”, floated with somnambulistic lightness and poise over the fertile no-man’s land between the genres of trip-hop, house and electropop, hovering over the fine line between art and kitsch. A typical Alphawezen recording session is less like a composer’s studio session than a conspirative get-together, replete with elated twitterings and chirpings, murmured and whispered exchanges of secrets and piquant remarks. On his third album Alphawezen takes us through the vast realm between experimentation and calculated effects. The song “Days”, sung by Verena, is taken from this album. On top of the original version you can find on the single new remixes from Aeric and The Timewriter.

Ronin – PlackTown Sounds Vol.1 (Plastic City)
Ronin aka Jonathan Axelsson was born in Sweden, and got in touch with music very early in life since both his father and grandfather were musicians. As a young boy he started playing drums, and then continued with piano lessons. In the mid 90’s he discovered a new type of music that would change his life forever. The music he heard was calld deephouse, and struck Jonathans heart immediately. He now started to produce music in a more serious matter and in 1997 he got in touch with Johan Bacto, which later formed the label PlackTown Sounds. Jonathan was now known as Ronin, and made alot of releases on the PlackTown Sounds imprint. With alot of great feedback from radiostations, magazines, DJ’s and even television, Ronin continued on the path of sensual, moody deep-house. His music was reaching out to the world, and in the year of 2001 he released a mini LP on Chris Grays label, Deep4Life in Chicago. Chris gave Jonathan his second artist name J. Axel, and he was now focusing on vocal deep-house, and he started working with the talanted vocalist Astrid Suryanto. He still produced instrumental deephouse as Ronin, and in 2002 he made a release on The Timewriter and Terry Lee Brown Junior’s label Driftwood. In late 2004 Jonathan completed his album, “J. Axel – Deepness Is Served”, which was released 31st of July 2006 on the German recordlabel Bohéme. Later, this album was re-released by Plastic City. Since today, Jonathan has released on various labels, contributed with music to many compilations, as well as DJ’ing in alot of clubs over the years. His releases and DJ-sets have always been criticaly acclaimd, and its a fact that he will keep on delivering music with precence and luxury, which touches mind, body and soul. Now you can find Ronin’s selected works on two releases “PlackTown Sounds Vol.1″ (release: december 2008) and “PlackTown Sounds Vol.2″ (release: january 2009) on Plastic City.

Orient Deluxe Vol. 2 (UCA)
Between Orient and Okzident there are underground connections. In the middle age Andalusia was the center of the mixture of the european an arab culture. The fusion of modern and arab tones in the same way amazing and naturally. Different to the first Orient Deluxe Vol.1 the follower relys on the fusion arab influences with modern beats which seduce their listeners to dance, instead of lounge listening. In any case, weather if its House, Reggae or just an oriental Sound, the interaction of this music is unique and an has his fingers on the pulse of time.
